Hiyona Otake, is a 22-year-old GPE youth leader alumna from Japan. She is passionate about working toward achieving a hopeful future through delivering education to every child regardless of their background.
She has experience in fundraising and public relations for educational nongovernmental organizations in Japan and Kenya, working as a preschool educational and child protection facilitator at a camp for refugees in Greece, assisting school management and teaching English at an English pre-school in Japan, and serving as the Japanese translator for the 2023 UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report.
She served as a GPE youth leader in Japan from 2020 to 2021 where she worked on advocacy and communications for the GPE 2021-2025 replenishment at the Global Education Summit. She is also a youth leader alumni of Wilton Park at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office part of the the UK Government.
