Julia Finder Johna

Julia Finder Johna is a Senior Advisor on Education in Crisis and Conflict with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Center for Education. Julia began her career in education as a classroom teacher and then worked with several international organizations in the US and abroad to support the development, implementation and monitoring of education programs in the Middle East, East and West Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Years of experience supporting education in emergencies has strengthened her expertise in conflict-sensitive and shock-responsive education, school safety, non-formal education, socio-emotional learning, teacher well-being and the integration of mental health and psychosocial support into education programs.

Julia has served on and led various inter-agency advisory groups and task forces and is currently acting co-chair of the the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) Steering Group. Julia holds a masters in social justice and education from the University College London’s Institute of Education.
