Amy Bernath is Director of the Education Practice at the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) where she leads the organization’s strategy and learning agenda for expanding access to quality education globally.

She oversees a portfolio of basic education, higher education and youth economic opportunity programs in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Eurasia and Central America with a team of 150 staff in 9 countries. She also represents IREX as Secretary of the Basic Education Coalition Board of Directors.

Amy previously led IREX’s office in Tajikistan, managed teacher training and youth development programs in the Republic of Georgia and the Kyrgyz Republic and supported implementation of the Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship. Prior to joining IREX, Amy was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine and taught English in Cape Coast, Ghana.
