Julia Sestier is the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) Campaigns Creative Content and Engagement Officer. After many years in South Africa, Julia now lives in Marseille, France. Prior to joining GCE, she worked at Femmes Africa Solidarité on networking and advocacy initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s participation in peacebuilding processes at the regional and international level. She also worked at CIVICUS, first in fundraising, and then on civil society strengthening initiatives. Finally, she worked for several years as a photojournalist and writer, freelancing for international media and telling stories from Kenya, South Africa, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). She believes that education is key in bringing about social change and is proud to support a strong civil society movement that promotes education as a basic human right.
