She is a member of the House of Representatives and belongs to the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the ruling party in Japan. She is currently the Deputy Secretary-General of the LDP. In the past, she has held various important positions in politics. In the Cabinet, she served as State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Vice Minister of Defense. In LDP, she served as Head of Policy and Public Affiras of the Youth Bureau and Deputy Director of the Women's Bureau.
