Leonora MacEwen
Program Specialist, IIEP/UNESCO

Leonora MacEwen is a Program Specialist at IIEP and a member of the Technical Cooperation team. She oversees IIEP’s crisis-sensitive planning work. She has developed guidance and research in this field, and in the area of education in emergencies. She also manages technical cooperation projects, supporting countries on the development of sector plans, as well as vulnerability analyses and risk reduction strategies for the education sector.
Leonora has developed training courses for educational planners on integrating conflict and disaster risk reduction in education sector plans. She represents IIEP on the Global Education Cluster Strategic Advisory Group, and on UNISDR’s Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in the Education Sector (GAD3RES).
Leonora holds a master’s degree in Comparative Development Studies from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, France, and a Master’s degree in Education Sciences from Paris V Université de Réné Descartes.
