WASHINGTON D.C., October 12, 2023 - Amid the escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza, I am extremely concerned about the devastating consequences for children. 

The serious violations against children’s rights are deeply distressing. I am also gravely concerned by reports of the destruction of schools and other educational facilities. 

Children are not and must never be targets. 

I join the international community in calling for all parties to do everything possible to protect children and schools from harm.
