GPE CEO Alice Albright joined President Julius Maada Bio in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to announce a US$17.2 million grant from GPE to boost the country's flagship quality education program.
The grant will go towards efforts to increase equitable education and improve learning outcomes for children in primary and pre-primary school, in addition to building over 120 classrooms.
Sierra Leone joined GPE in 2007 and has since received three grants. Ms. Albright reiterated GPE’s commitment to help the government achieve its goal and President Bio assured GPE that his government will ensure that the right people benefit from the grant.
