Government in Malawi recruits 8000 teachers to reduce student-teacher ratio
On a site visit in Lilongwe to one of the schools across the country that are benefitting from the Malawi Education Sector Improvement Project (MESIP), the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, announced that the government will recruit 8000 primary school teachers to reduce the student-teacher ratio.
MESIP is a GPE funded initiative that aims to improve the equity and quality of primary education. The recruitment of 8000 teachers this year is part of a series of interventions intended to mitigate the problem of inadequate school facilities and poor training for teachers.
