Joris van Bommel is senior education advisor at the Global Partnership for Education, seconded from The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Previously, he worked both at headquarters in The Hague and at the Netherlands Embassy in Mali where he was also the lead donor for the education sector. Prior to this, he worked for UNICEF and served several years at the Secretariat of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa which, at that time, was based at UNESCO’s International Institute for Educational Planning. Joris holds a Masters in International Development Studies from the Radboud University in Nijmegen and has a Bachelor’s degree of the Education Teacher Training Institute “De Kempel” in Helmond, The Netherlands.
