A School Library in Guatemala Helps Children Learn to Read
“In Chukmuk’s School Library in Santiago Atitlán, Guatemala, students have access to books and learn how to read and write through diverse literacy activities. They speak Tz’utujil, a Mayan language and learn Spanish as a second language. Books are vital to their learning experience, since most adults in the community are illiterate.”
This video and essay about the work of a school library in Guatemala were submitted to the 2012 Reading Changed My Life Contest by Montserrat Deu from Guatemala.
