Poetry For Locals X Raise Your Hand

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented global challenges that can only be overcome collectively. That's why GPE and actor Daniel Brühl have decided to bring together two powerful campaigns: #PoetryForLocals x #RaiseYourHand.

The goal is to use combined solidarity to draw attention to the global education crisis and the disappearance of local businesses. The world cannot simply sit back and allow millions of the most vulnerable children to never set foot in a classroom again, and more and more local stores to close their doors forever.

GPE and Poetry for Locals are calling on the public to be a part of the "Poetry for Locals x Raise your Hand" campaign action and help raise awareness about the impacts of COVID-19. How can you show your support?

  1. Record a 40 to 60 second video of yourself reading from your favorite book and briefly describe how the book has impacted your life.
  2. Upload the video to your social media accounts and use the hashtags #PoetryForLocals and #RaiseYourHand and tag @poetryforlocals and @gpforeducation.

See who has taken part and shown their support on Twitter and Instagram:

  • Devid Striesow, German actor
  • Laura Karasek, writer

    Jamie Lawson, musician

  • Kathryn Hunter, actress
  • Isaac Chamberlain, boxer
  • Eckard von Hirschhausen, comedian
