In the 1990s Cameroon experienced an economic crisis and the country's education sector was in disrepair: teachers weren't paid on time or received no salary at all, classroom sizes grew. Not surprisingly, the quality of education suffered. Driven by the government's desire to improve the school system and how teachers are trained and paid and with the help of the Global Partnership for Education, a reform was started. As a result more teachers have been hired, creating reliable jobs and better teachers. Meet Abonam De Dieu, one of the teachers from Cameroon and hear his story.
