The country has made remarkable progress over the last decade: the rate of children finishing primary school jumped from 59% in 2002 to 98% in 2012 (UIS).

In November 2013, Cambodia received a second grant from the Global Partnership of $38.5 million. The funds will help the country improve the access and quality of basic education, in particular by focusing on early childhood education and inclusion of disadvantaged children.
