Lucy Maina

Lucy Maina combines a detailed working knowledge of humanitarian contexts with significant experience in the international development sector, with particular expertise in health, nutrition, education and gender. She has a Masters in International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid and an International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance. Initially a teacher and an accountant, she then brought her experience in education, health and finance to the NGO world. Implementing regional exchange programmes in the areas of WASH (water and sanitation and hygiene), gender, health, nutrition, food security and livelihoods in Somalia for over five years and she has demonstrated an impressive ability to operate effectively in an emergency context, and was responsible for developing the Integrated Nutrition Guidelines for Somalia.

Starting with AET in 2009, Lucy is now responsible for the quality and direction of all AET programmes in South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia and Uganda. She is involved in resource mobilisation, project management and monitoring and evaluation. She also co-chairs the focal point group on the education sector coordination for Somalia, a multi-stakeholder group which includes major donors and NGOs working in this field.
