Christine Ogola
National Coordinator, African Youth Initiative on Climate Change - Kenya

With a deep passion for climate justice, participation and the inclusion of marginalized groups, Christine Ogola serves as the National Coordinator for the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC) Kenya as a founding member of Youth for Sustainable Development (YSD) (Nairobi, Kenya).
She is a proud member of YOUNGO—the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and is an alumna of the Ban Ki-moon Centre and the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI).
As a young African woman, her work is dedicated to empowering marginalized communities, particularly women, youth, persons with disability and indigenous peoples, to actively participate in climate governance.
She is inspired to act on climate change by the resilience and determination of marginalized communities facing its harshest impacts and believes in including these groups in climate action, to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
By providing appropriate technology and resources, she promotes more sustainable farming and conservation practices. And by reducing poverty, she believes that everyone can better adapt to the effects of climate change.
Her efforts have been recognized by multiple honors, including as Africa's ‘Top 40 Under 40’ award in 2023 and the ‘Global Livelihoods Impact Award’ by VSO, among others. She aims to create sustainable, community-driven impacts through collaborative approaches to climate resilience and adaptation, empowering youth to lead intergenerational dialogues that integrate climate action with policies, financing and access to information.
