Aigly Zafeirakou

Aigly Zafeirakou is a Senior Education Technical Advisor for the World Bank, the Gates Foundation and other international organizations. Her technical expertise focuses on delivering quality education services and innovative solutions to address the human capital gap exacerbated by the well-documented learning crisis.

Dr. Zafeirakou provides high-level guidance and technical support to governments with a focus on improving learning outcomes for all. Currently, she advises on evidence-based curricular reform implementation at scale in countries supported by the World Bank, aiming at drastically improving foundational learning.

Outstanding results in Côte d’Ivoire and Benin resulted in wide recognition of her expertise at an international level. Dr. Zafeirakou has previously worked for GPE and has consulted for UNICEF, UNESCO, the OECD and Chemonics International, among others. Her extensive country experience covers more than 30 countries worldwide.

Previously, as Assistant Professor, she taught at the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece. Her publications on education policy issues are in English, French and Greek and she is invited to present at international conferences and fora worldwide.

A Fulbright scholar and a French government scholarship recipient, she holds a Masters and a PhD from the University Paris West University Nanterre la Defense, France.
