The United States and GPE

The United States is a long-standing partner of GPE, having joined the partnership in 2009.

To date, the U.S. has contributed US$931 million to the GPE fund, making it the 5th largest donor.

In 2021, the United States made a three-year pledge of $350 million for GPE’s 4th Replenishment, covering the period 2021-2025.

The United States sits on the GPE Board of Directors and is a member of the Board’s Executive Committee.

The country is highly involved with GPE processes and local education groups in a number of partner countries.

The United States acts as coordinating agency in several countries, including Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Liberia, Madagascar, South Sudan and Syria.

*The US pledge covers three years.
