Aid to education
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), foreign aid policy is led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
UAE foreign assistance contributes to global efforts to achieve SDG 4, including a strong focus on girls’ education. Investments are guided by the first five-year "UAE Policy for Foreign Assistance (2017–2021)" and are focused on three key pillars:
- Women’s empowerment and protection
- Transport and urban infrastructure
- Technical cooperation
The United Arab Emirates is a participant in the Development Assistance Committee (DAC). In 2017, the UAE’s official development assistance (ODA) reached US$4.6 billion (1.31% of gross national income). That same year, the top recipients of its Basic Education ODA Disbursement were: Tanzania, Mexico, Philippines, Rwanda, Comoros.
