Norway

Education has always been a cornerstone of Norwegian development assistance. As one of the founding members of GPE, Norway has committed $908 million supporting GPE since its inception in 2002.

Most recently, Norway committed 32.4 million Norwegian Kroner to GPE’s response to the conflict in West Bank and Gaza, a critical commitment to enable children to go back to school as soon as the situation allows.

Norway is a member of the donor 4 constituency of GPE’s Board of Directors together with Finland, Ireland, and the United Arab Emirates, and sits on the Performance, Impact and Learning Committee. Norway also acts as coordinating agency in Ethiopia.
