GPE grant to Malawi helps to roll out education sector improvement project

Malawi received US$44.9 million from GPE to execute its education sector improvement project. With these funds, the government plans to establish school improvement grants based on performance in efforts to promote retention. Other components of the project are to increase access to education and strengthen capacity building. The ministry of education will also allocate a portion of the monetary assistance from GPE to purchase commodities for school districts, especially for the most disadvantaged.
