The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) welcomes the release of the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council (GEAC) report, which highlights critical advancements in addressing gender disparities in education. GPE is proud to have contributed to the development of the education chapter, led by our CEO, Laura Frigenti, in close collaboration with key stakeholders.
The report underscores the pivotal role of education in achieving gender equality and recommends strategic investments to ensure access to quality education for girls and boys in the most marginalized communities. It also emphasizes the importance of strengthening partnerships across governments, private sector actors, and civil society to accelerate progress on Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4).
"We are thrilled to see the G7 prioritizing education as a cornerstone for gender equality," said Laura Frigenti, CEO of GPE. "This report reflects a shared commitment to empowering the next generation through inclusive and equitable education systems, and GPE stands ready to collaborate further in translating these recommendations into action."
The education chapter, which benefited from GPE’s technical input, highlights:
- Targeted funding for girls' education, with a focus on removing barriers such as child marriage, lack of access to secondary education, and digital exclusion.
- The critical link between education and employment opportunities, particularly in addressing gender gaps in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
- The need for innovative partnershipsto deliver transformative education solutions, including through collaboration with the private sector and local communities.
GPE recognizes the leadership of the G7 in advancing global gender equality and looks forward to working with its partners to implement the key actions identified in the GEAC report. Together, we can create a world where every child has access to the education they need to thrive.
