The Education Sector Strategic Plan has been developed on the background of the national strategy and other international commitments and provides for strategic direction that the country has to follow to keep up with the objectives set out in the policy and legal contexts as well as international commitments and conventions.

The plan outlines the sector priorities to cover for the period between 2018/19 and 2022/23 and covers interventions centered around increasing access to pre-school; enhancing quality of delivery of pre-school programs; enhancing retention in basic education; improving quality at basic education; increasing access to and equity in formal basic education; increasing opportunity for basic literacy programs; increasing access to and equity in secondary education; improving learning and skills development in secondary education; and strengthening system for better delivery of pre-school, basic and secondary education programs.
