The GPE program supports the improvement of access and quality of pre-primary and primary education. It also encompasses and extends the current GPE program and other government and partner initiatives in the education sector.

The spending areas are:

• Classroom construction/completion, wash and facilities for disabled children
• Teacher houses construction
• Hardship allowance for teachers posted in remote areas including islands/islets
• Supporting District development planning and program implementation.
