In recent years, attention has increasingly focused on learning that extends beyond traditional academic content. Today’s world demands skills to grapple with globalization, increasing mobility and migration, political unrest, environmental degradation and evolving civic and social dynamics.

This paper provides an overview of 21^st century skills, summarizes the evidence and guidance around their uptake, and makes recommendations for GPE’s engagement with this topic.
