On June 10, 2022, GPE youth leaders, in coordination with several youth organizations and civil society organizations, organized a peaceful protest outside the Stortinget (Norwegian Parliament) in Oslo.

The demonstration was to raise awareness about the government’s cuts to education aid and the postponing of GPE’s contribution in the revised state budget presented to Parliament on May 12, 2022.

The government proposed the reprioritization of NOK4 billion (US$425 million) from the development assistance budget to manage a potential refugee crisis due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including substantial cuts to aid to education and delaying contribution to GPE.”
