Rwanda’s government has significantly stepped up education spending over the past decade – and the country has the highest primary school enrollment rates in Africa.
Recently, the EuroNews program Learning World visited the Burera district in Rwanda to highlight how GPE and other education partners have supported the country’s progress.
Rwanda was one of the first countries to apply for a GPE grant under the funding model introduced in 2015, which links 30% of grant allocations to the achievement of results in learning quality, system efficiency and equity for all children.
With the GPE US$25.2 million grant, Rwanda is now focusing on early education and measuring learning outcomes.
