Annual Report highlights the Global Partnership’s work and achievements
Today, we are launching our new All Children Learning Report, which highlights achievements and results of the Global Partnership for Education between January 2012 and June 2013. The report offers insights into how the Global Partnership works, who our partners are and what we have achieved together.
Some highlights include:
- The Global Partnership has grown to nearly 60 developing country partners, 20 donor partners, and many partners from civil society and the private sector
- Since 2002, GPE allocated US$ 3.1 billion in grants to its developing country partners out of which 970 million were allocated between January 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013
- GPE received US$ 660 million in donor contributions between January 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013
Our results told through country stories
Beyond numbers, the All Children Learning Report also tells important results stories showcasing the progress achieved in getting more children to school and learning. In Rwanda, a state-of-the-art textbook management system guarantees that children even in the most remote schools have the textbooks they need to learn. In Gambia, a pilot reading program showed promising results: children who learned to read in their national language performed 10 times better than others in recognizing letters and reading words. In Yemen, focusing on the right approaches to getting more girls in school is also proving successful. In Mali, where conflict flared up in 2012, GPE quickly adapted its support to focus on the most pressing needs of school reconstruction and supplies.
The report also includes results stories from Sierra Leone, Mozambique and Cambodia. It talks about how the Global Partnership’s Civil Society Education Fund is helping local civil society coalitions to have a voice in the education debate in developing countries.
