From July 13-16, 2015 high-level political representatives, UN representatives, non-governmental organizations and business sector representatives will meet at the Third International Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to launch a renewed and strengthened global partnership for financing the post-2015 development agenda.
The Conference will look at all sources of finance for people-centered sustainable development to ensure that resources go where they are needed most to promote economic prosperity and improve health, education and employment opportunities while protecting the environment.
The four-day official program includes plenary meetings and roundtable discussions. In addition, the Conference will feature international civil society and business forums, as well as more than 200 side events, including Financing health and education: Giving girls and young women a fair chance hosted by the Global Partnership for Education, UNAIDS and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The outcome of the Conference will be an action agenda addressing the financial requirements of the new sustainable development agenda. The current draft references the need for increased ambition and financing for education to be delivered through a scaled up and significantly strengthened Global Partnership for Education.
