Ahead of the G7 leader’s Summit, Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit, and UN Transforming Education Summit, Niels Annen, Parliamentary State Secretary to the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development joined the second annual Futures Livestream on Learning in Crisis, which profiled young people´s voices and views on why education is central to addressing the learning crisis and other crises facing the world; from new and ongoing conflicts to gender equality, climate change and COVID-19.
In his conversation with GPE Youth Leader Maryjacob Okwuosa, Parliamentary State Secretary Niels Annen, highlighted that education is the key to self-determination and sustainable development and that in the context of multiple crises, Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 5 (Gender Equality) are under severe pressure. He further underlined that girls’ education would feature in Germany’s G7 agenda.
