Picture of the week
In the Central African Republic, close to half a million people (or about 10% of the country’s population) have been displaced by the recent conflict. This means for many of these people losing their homes and the ability to cover basic needs. For the many displaced children, it means no chance to attend school.
Out of 59 developing partner countries of the Global Partnership, 28 are fragile or conflict-affected like the Central African Republic. The Global Partnership can support these countries with emergency programs through a new accelerated funding process (PDF) to bring support where it is most needed. In the Central African Republic, GPE will help children go back to school by supporting parents’ associations to rehabilitate classrooms and equip them with furniture and learning materials.
