Children in Mozambique, Nepal, Rwanda and Bangladesh will benefit from the financing of four new grants approved today by the GPE Board of Directors at its meeting in Seoul, Korea.
Bangladesh will receive a $100 million grant, Mozambique a $57.9 million grant, Nepal a $59.3 million grant and Rwanda a $17.64 million grant. This funding will support the implementation of the countries’ education sector plans for the coming 3 to 4 years.
Mozambique, Nepal and Rwanda are the first countries to apply for financing under GPE’s new funding model which incentivizes developing countries to improve equity, efficiency and quality in education by linking a portion of funding to results.
Since its inception in 2002, the Global Partnership for education has allocated $4.35 billion to education programs in its partner countries.
