In 2013, half of the 57 million children out of school live in countries affected by conflict, fragility and humanitarian emergencies. Delivering education in these contexts is increasingly challenging when schools may come under attack and country education systems may not be prepared to deal with the impacts of these emergencies. Yet, we know that education is often the best way to provide a sense of continuity, a safe space for young people and an opportunity to gain important life skills and hope for a better future.   
 
This event will highlight the role that Canadians and Canada’s partners have in ensuring that every child in difficult circumstances has access to education. We will share lessons learned, as well as opportunities and innovations for addressing the challenges before us.
