Making the case for the next round of replenishment, GPE Chair Julia Gillard shared in a recent interview with Devex how her organization is leveraging funds from donors to reach significant improvement in children's learning outcomes. The primary school completion rate in GPE countries increased from 56% in 2002 to 71% in 2014, and with this new replenishment GPE will help 19 million additional children finish primary school.
GPE’s model put great emphasis on mobilizing in-country expertise and working with local governments and civil society to design an education sector plan that is tailored to the country. GPE recognizes that there is power in partnership, which is why many different groups are represented at the table to advocate for children's education.
