Webinar: Working toward a Post-2015 Agenda in Numeracy and Beyond

As the Millennium Development Goals sunset in 2015 and the Education for All goals are reviewed, the education sector has a unique opportunity to influence the new global development agenda and raise the profile of global education – not only in terms of access to quality education, but also with regards to learning. There appears to be general consensus that, in addition to ensuring equitable access to good quality education, learning has a place on the new development agenda. As a consequence, considerable discussions have emerged around measuring and monitoring learning outcomes.

The speakers are Albert Motivans (Head of Education Indicators and Data Analysis Section, UNESCO Institute for Statistics) and Luis Crouch (Chief Technical Officer, RTI International Development Group).

As Head of the Education Indicators Section, Albert Motivans is closely involved in the processes leading up to measurability of learning outcomes on a post-2015 agenda. Albert will present on the roles of UIS, the Education for All Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and the Learning Metrics Task Force (LMTF) in bridging the recommendations of the Working Group on Numeracy Indicators to the Sustainable Development Goals.

As part of the Working Group of Numeracy Indicators (WGNI), Luis Crouch was closely involved in the development of key recommendations for measurement of learning outcomes in numeracy. His presentation will focus on the recommendations provided by the WGNI to the community interested in these issues in the context of the post-2015 agenda.
